Proudly Sponsored by Elite Environmental Since 2005

Within this section you'll find all the usual stats for the team during our summer campaigns. If you want to view the indoor cricket stats please go to the Indoor Cricket Section. For each section you can select a season from the drop down box. Follow the links to the individuals record or down to the details of the match itself.

Batting Averages

For some reason this one stat is the be all and end all for some! In case you didn't know the average is the average runs pr innings and is worked out as Total runs divided by Total innings (less not outs). The Batsman of the year is the one at the top of the pile at the end of the season but does have to have played a number of innings first to qualify. I hope to take this into account in the next site update - but don't hold your breath.

Bowling Averages

Again another statistic popular with those quirky bowler types.   The averages are worked out   as follows:
Strike rate - Number of balls between wickets ( Overs x 6) / wickets
Economy Rate - Number of runs per over Runs/ Overs
Average - Number of runs per wicket - Runs/ Wickets
The bowling stats are sorted on the number of wickets per bowler

Duck Cup

The butt end of the batting awards - It takes a great deal of skill and guile to be top of the pile in this award and those receiving the coveted prize don't always receive the full admiration they are due.

Catches

Butter finger amongst you need not apply. I've found in the past it's not about being a good catcher but being in the wrong place at the wrong time and having a soft body to absorb the impact once it passes your hand

Wicket Keepers

About as specialist a field as you'll find in the Martlets. Byes to wickets is the name of the game here although many a keeper (myself included) gasps in disbelief at the reluctance of umpires to call leg side wides a wide, usually resulting in 4 byes against the keeper. A certain ability to dive down the leg side is required by any Martlet keeper

Captains

A straightforward record of a complex job. Captaining the Martlets is like a ballet between good and evil - trying to ensure you win the match against all odds, especially when players don't turn up, massaging players egos, be the brunt of continuous sniping from your fielders (especially when a bowling or fielding change backfires) and try and make sure everyone's happy all at the same time whilst allowing every one to get a bowl and bat in the middle order!! ..And if there's a chance try and enjoy the game yourself! Wouldn't have it any other way

Run Outs

Contrary to what this record indicates Martlets do take run outs - only there not always recorded in the score book - usually when someone other than Wendy or Julie do the scoring. So if you get on this list consider it a great honour
